AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team reached the 19-goal plateau for the second consecutive game on Saturday afternoon at Ruth J. Totman Field in a 19-8 victory over La Salle. The Minutewomen extended their winning streak to three games in the process and improved to 5-8, 3-2 in the Atlantic 10 with the league victory. The Explorers fell to 6-7, 2-2 with the loss.

UMass opened up the contest by scoring the first three goals, as seniors Fay Naber (Suffern N.Y.) and Rachel Ingraffea (Ithaca, N.Y.) sandwiched goals around a marker from sophomore Jada Emery (Princeton, N.J.). La Salle's Jami Wilus and Jennifer Blaney cut the UMass lead to 3-2 with back-to-back goals, but that would be as close as the Explorers got on the afternoon.

The hosts went on to score seven of the final eight goals of the first half to carry a 10-3 lead into the intermission. Ingraffea and Emery each scored twice to complete their hat tricks within the first 30 minutes, while Kara DePaula (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Lori Kain (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Naber each added tallies for the Minutewomen.

In the second half, DePaula led the charge with three goals, while Ingraffea scored twice. Naber, Emery and freshmen Jill Blauvelt (Suffern, N.Y.) and Miriam Godfrey (Lexington, Mass.) each scored once. The Minutewomen outscored the Explorers, 9-5, in the second half.

Ingraffea finished the day with five goals to cap off her eighth hat trick of the season. Emery and DePaula each chipped in four goals, while Naber scored three times and added an assist.

Senior co-captain Jen Nardi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) stopped 12 shots for UMass in the game. La Salle goalies Lianne Dictor and Erin Hogan teamed up to turn away nine Minutewomen shots on the afternoon.

UMass returns to action on Wednesday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m. for a matchup against regional rival Connecticut on Senior Day at Totman Field.
