AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team posted its fourth consecutive win on Wednesday afternoon at Ruth J. Totman Field in a 12-9 victory over Connecticut. The Minutewomen improved to 6-8 overall on the season, while the Huskies dropped to 2-11.

The two teams opened the contest by trading goals in the first 10 minutes. Senior co-captain Fay Naber (Suffern, N.Y.) netted both UMass goals, while UConn's Heather Bliss matched her UMass counterpart with a pair of scores.

From there, the Minutewomen closed out the half by scoring six of eight goals to carry an 8-4 lead to the intermission. Senior Rachel Ingraffea (Ithaca, N.Y.) posted two goals during that stretch, while Jill Blauvelt (Suffern, N.Y.), Jada Emery (Princeton, N.J.), Lori Kain (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Naber each tacked on an additional score.

The Huskies stormed out of the break to score three of the first four goals to cut the UMass advantage to 9-7. However, the Minutewomen were able to withstand the UConn run with late tallies from Emery, as well as a pair from sophomore Leslie Pollock (Watervliet, N.Y.).

Naber paced the Minutewomen with a five-point afternoon (three goals, two assists) in her final collegiate home game. Pollock scored two goals and assisted on two others, while Emery recorded a hat trick in the winning effort.

Senior co-captain Jen Nardi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) stopped 13 shots for UMass in the game. Connecticut goalie April Pollock turned away 12 Minutewomen shots on the afternoon.

UMass returns to action on Sunday, April 29, at 1:00 p.m. for a matchup against No. 7 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
