AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team responded with its largest offensive output of the season in a 19-2 win over the University at Albany on Thursday afternoon at Ruth J. Totman Field. The total was the highest since the Minutewomen defeated St. Bonaventure by the same score on April 7, 2000. UMass improved to 4-8 with the win, while the Great Danes fell to 5-7.

UMass jumped out on the Great Danes with goals in the first five minutes from senior Rachel Ingraffea (Ithaca, N.Y.), and sophomores Leslie Pollock (Watervliet, N.Y.) and Jada Emery (Princeton, N.J.). Albany answered with a tally from Andrea Esposito, but the Minutewomen would go on to score 13 consecutive goals, including the final nine of the first half.

The Great Danes finally snapped the UMass run midway through the second half on a goal from Alexis DiDomenico. The Minutewomen countered with the final three goals of the game, tallies from freshman Nicole Chominski (Southampton, Pa.), Emery and Bridget Byrne (Glenside, Pa.).

Five different UMass players finished the game with at least four points. Pollock paced the offensive attack with six points (four goals, two assists), while senior co-captain Fay Naber (Suffern, N.Y.) figured in on five goals (one goal, four assists). Emery and Ingraffea each found the back of the cage four times, while senior attacker Kara DePaula (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) netted a goal and added three assists. Ingraffea's hat trick was her seventh of the season.

Senior co-captain Jen Nardi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) stopped six shots for UMass in the game before giving way to sophomore Cyndi Doyle (Bridgewater, Vt.), who made four saves. Albany goalie Liz Gress-Byrd denied 11 Minutewomen shots on the afternoon.

UMass returns to action on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. for an Atlantic 10 contest against La Salle at Totman Field.
