Women's Lacrosse Falls to New Hampshire, 8-6

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The University of New Hampshire scored six first half goals en route to an 8-6 victory over the University of Massachusetts in women's lacrosse action today at Omni Turf Field on the campus of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
UNH opened a 3-0 lead early in the first half on goals from Jessie Groszkowski, Christine Anneberg and Sue Yund. UMass cut the lead to two goals when sophomore Jada Emery (Princeton, N.J.) scored her first goal of the season at the 22:58 mark.
The Wildcats then scored a pair of goals to take a 5-1 lead. Colleen Christopher and Yund scored the UNH goals. The Minutewomen responded with a goal from sophomore Lydia Robinson (Summit, N.J.) with 3:38 remaining in the half. UNH closed out the first half scoring with Anneberg's second goal of the game.
UNH opened the scoring in the second half when Molly Cherington scored at the 27:41 mark. The Minutewomen cut the UNH lead to 7-3 when senior Kara DePaula (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) setup senior Rachel Ingraffea (Ithaca, N.Y.) for the first of her three goals in the game. The Wildcats extended their lead to 8-3 when Christopher scored her second goal of the game.
Ingraffea netted her second goal with 13:11 remaining in the game, and sophomore Leslie Pollock (Watervliet, N.Y.) followed with her first goal of the season to cut the UNH lead to 8-5. Ingraffea finished off the hat trick when she scored with 10:16 remaining in the game to make the score 8-6 in favor of UNH.
Sophomore Cyndi Doyle (Bridgewater, Vt.) made 17 saves in the cage for the Minutewomen, while Amanda Warren made 10 saves for the Wildcats. The loss drops the Minutewomen to 0-3 on the season, while the victory improves UNH to 2-1. UMass returns to action on Saturday, March 24, when it travels to Syracuse for a non-conference game.
