PHOENIX, Ariz. - Senior Carrie Jeffries (Placentia, Calif.) pitched all seven innings scattering six hits and striking out six, as UMass defeated UNLV, 6-0, in its second game at the Fiesta Bowl Classic on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Emily Robustelli (Stamford, Conn.) went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored versus the Rebels, while classmate Brandi Cross (Diamond Bar, Calif.) went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Junior Ashley Bakken (Phoenix, Ariz.) smashed a double with two RBI and a run scored.
UMass returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 10, in day two of the three-day Classic. The Minutewomen take on nationally-ranked Oregon (No. 20) and LSU (No. 8).
