Men's Lacrosse Announces Recruits

AMHERST, Mass. -- University of Massachusetts head men's lacrosse coach Greg Cannella announced 10 players who will be attending UMass to play for the Minutemen beginning this fall. The recruits are Todd Cunningham (East Setauket, N.Y.), Chris Gervat (Northport, N.Y.), Kevin Glenz (Lynbrook, N.Y.), Patrick Hall (Wilton, Conn.), Scott Hinchey (Glastonbury, Conn.), Neil Lundberg (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Bo Pritchard (Webster, N.Y.), Justin Walker (Fairport, N.Y.), Jeff Zywicki (Nepean, Ontario) and junior college transfer James Naus (North Massapequa, N.Y.).
"It's an athletic group that has some great ability," said Cannella. "We are real excited about their past experiences. Many of them come from programs that won state championships. There are some players with good size, and we are looking forward to bringing them in here in September."
Cunningham, a graduate of Ward Melville High School, was a member of a New York state championship team in 1999 and 2000. The 6-0, 180 pound midfielder earned All-County honors in 2000. Cunningham was also a three-year letterwinner in soccer.
Gervat, who is 6-2 and weighs 190 pounds, received All-League accolades in 1999 while playing defense at Northport High School. He was a member of the New York State Empire team in the summer of 1999. Gervat also played basketball at Northport.
Glenz, a product of Lynbrook High School, was a member of a New York state championship team in 1999 and 2000. The 5-10, 170-pound attackman also received All-County honors in 1999 and 2000.
Hall, who played at Wilton High School and Bridgeton Academy, was a member of Connecticut state championship teams in 1998 and 1999. The 6-0, 190-pound defenseman was named to the All-County team in 1999.
Hinchey captained Glastonbury High School in 2000 and earned All-Conference honors in 1998, 1999 and 2000. The 5-11, 190-pound goaltender was a member of the Connecticut State Super Juniors team. Hinchey also earned state championships in soccer and hockey at Glastonbury.
Lundberg, a graduate of Birmingham Seaholm High School, earned All-America honors in 2000. The 6-4, 220-pound attackman was named to the All-Midwest and All-State teams as a junior and senior. He was also a three-year letterwinner in football.
Pritchard played at Webster High School where earned All-County honors as a junior and senior. The 6-3, 215-pound defenseman was a captain this past season. Pritchard won a New York state championship and twice earned All-County honors as a football player.
Walker, who is 6-2 inches and weighs 200 pounds, was a three-time All-County selection at Fairport High School as a midfielder. Walker won a New York state championship and twice earned All-County honors in football at Fairport.
Zywicki played lacrosse, hockey and football in Nepean, Ontario. The 5-9, 165-pound attckman/midfielder twice received the ACT Award honoring the top amateur athlete in the Ottawa District.
Naus,a junior college transfer from Herkimer Community College, received All-America and All-JuCo Tournament team honors last season. The 5-9, 175-pound defenseman graduated from Farmingdale (N.Y.) High School.
