UMass Women's Lacrosse Falls To #9 Dartmouth 10-6

AMHERST, Mass. -- Senior midfielder Rebecca Minaker (Newton, Mass.) scored two goals and senior midfielder Stephanie Pavlick (Blue Bell, Pa.) added a goal and two assists, but it was not enough as the University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team fell to ninth-ranked Dartmouth 10-6 at Totman Field. The Minutewomen fall to 2-5 on the season with the loss, while Dartmouth improves to 5-1.
The Big Green opened the game by scoring two goals in the first two minutes, but the Minutewomen came back with goals from junior midfielder Rachel Ingraffea (Ithaca, N.Y.) and freshman midfielder Kelli Kurtz (Schwenksville, Pa.) to tie up the score at 2-2. Dartmouth would score the next three goals to take a 5-2 advantage, before Minaker and junior attacker Fay Naber (Suffern, N.Y.) scored for UMass to cut the lead to 5-4 at the break.
Dartmouth would take control of the game in the second half, outscoring the Minutewomen 4-2. The Big Green scored twice in the first two minutes after the intermission, before a goal from Pavlick made the score 7-5. Dartmouth then scored three more times to take a 10-5 advantage, before Minaker concluded the scoring with her second goal.
Junior Jen Nardi (Valley Cottage, N.Y.) made eight saves in net for the Minutewomen, while junior Ellie Leahy had 10 saves for the Big Green. Dartmouth was led in scoring by senior midfielder Jacque Weitzel with three goals and an assist, while senior defender Kate Graw added three goals.
The Minutewomen will return to action on Friday, Apr. 7, when they travel to St. Bonaventure for a 3:00 p.m. game.
