OLEAN, N.Y. -- The University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse team defeated St. Bonaventure 19-2 this afternoon. The Minutewomen improve to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the Atlantic 10 with the win, while the loss drops St. Bonaventure to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the A-10.
The Minutewomen were in control of the game from the opening faceoff. UMass jumped out to an 8-0 lead and went into halftime holding an 11-2 advantage.
Junior Rachel Ingraffea (Ithaca, N.Y.), freshman Kelli Kurtz (Schwenksville, Pa.), senior Sara MacNabb (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), senior Melissa Miele (Drexel Hill, Pa.) and senior Stephanie Pavlick (Blue Bell, Pa.) all scored two goals each for the Minutewomen.
Senior Jessica Passanese (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) scored her first career point on a first half goal. Freshman Eileen Downing (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) also recorded her first career point by netting a goal. Also scoring for the Minutewomen were sophomore Christy Ambrose (Framingham, Mass.), junior Denise Brey (Tabernacle, N.J.), junior Kara DePaula (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), freshman Jada Emery (Princeton, N.J.), senior Noelle Gorski (Cicero, N.Y.), senior Colleen Wales (Exton, Pa.) and senior co-captain Lynne Young (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.).
UMass returns to action this Sunday, April 9, when it travels to Pittsburgh to face Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
