The Matchup
  • Friday will mark the second all-time meeting with Navy, with both meetings coming in the NCAA Tournament.
  • In the first-ever meeting in 2017, Navy picked up a 23-11 win in the NCAA Tournament second round, on its way to a Final Four appearance.
Last Time out
  • The top-seeded Massachusetts women's lacrosse team opened a 6-1 lead after one quarter and the Minutewomen wouldn't look back in a dominant 15-3 win over second-seeded Akron in the MAC Championship Game on Saturday afternoon. The win gives UMass the MAC Tournament Title in its first year in the conference, to go with its regular season championship.
  • The championship marks UMass' second straight after winning the Atlantic 10 title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament last season. On Saturday, the Minutewomen played in their 18th straight conference title game, dating back to the 2008 season.
  • Kassidy Morris, named the Tournament's MVP, finished with four goals to reach 101 points on the season to tie her own program record set last year. She finished the tournament with eight goals and two assists. Morris has recorded a hat trick in 11 of the last 12 games, coinciding with the Minutewomen's 12-game winning streak.
  • The other All-Tournament Team honorees from UMass were defender Heather Clark, attacker Ava Connaughton, goalkeeper Bayley Duffy and midfielder Katie Onderdonk.
  • Onderdonk finished off a stellar weekend with a career-high four goals. Katie Peterson scored three goals while Connaughton had two goals and an assist.
  • Bridget Valentine led the defense with three groundballs and two caused turnovers while Onderdonk caused two turnovers as well. Cate Marshall had 11 draw controls, her fifth straight game with double-figure draws.
SCOUTING THE MIDSHIPMEN
  • Navy stands 18-1 on the season, including 8-1 in the Patriot League. The Mids' lone loss came at Loyola, 19-14. Among Navy's wins were Florida, South Florida and Army (twice).
  • The Mids are led offensively by sophomore Tewaaraton Award finalist Alyssa Chung, who has 72 goals and 102 points.
  • As a team, Navy is third nationally in scoring offense (16.11), eighth in scoring defense (7.84) and third in scoring margin (8.28).
  • The Mids feature five first team All-MAC honorees, including Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year Felicia Giglio. Giglio owns a 7.85 goals against average and 47.0 save percentage on the season.
WIN STREAKS
  • UMass is riding a 12-game winning streak, marking the seventh straight season the Minutewomen have had a 10+ game win streak.
  • The streak began with a 17-14 win over Dartmouth, featured the entire MAC regular season and postseason, and non-league wins over Bryant (23-7) and Columbia (20-9).
morris' mark
  •   Kassidy Morris has enjoyed a historic season, and career at UMass.
  • On Mar. 28 at Robert Morris, Morris became the program's all-time leading goal scorer with her 212th.
  • Morris is up to 101 points this season to tie her own program record set last season.
  • Among active Division I players, Morris stands third in career goals (244) and fourth in points (319).
  • Morris is 11 points behind Katie Ferris' program record for points (330).
  •  Morris is a four-time MAC Offensive Player of the Week. She was named first team All-MAC, the MAC Tournament MVP and was Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year last season.
SUSTAINED CONFERENCE SUCCESS
  • The Minutewomen are in the midst of impressive success going back almost two decades.
