April 01, 2026 | Women's Lacrosse
AMHERST, Mass. – The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team outscored visiting Bryant 15-3 in the second half to turn an 8-4 halftime lead into a convincing 23-7 victory on Wednesday afternoon. Eight different Minutewomen tallied multiple points, led by six points from Ava Connaughton and Kassidy Morris, with Dylan Lyons scoring five goals for a second straight game.
With its fifth straight wins, UMass improves to 9-2. The victory came over defending America East co-champion Bryant, who was 7-4 on the season and stands a perfect 2-0 in conference.
The Minutewomen have now scored at least 17 goals in each of the five contests, while allowing just 17 goals over their last four games. The 23 goals on Wednesday marked a season high, and third time in the last four games eclipsing the 20-goal mark.
Morris finished with four goals and two assists. In doing so, she reached 280 career points, which is now tied with Holly Turner '18 for third most in program history. Morris has tallied at least four goals and at least six points in five straight games, coinciding with the Minutewomen's win streak. Morris has 26 goals and nine assists in that stretch.
Norah Prizzi added a career-high three assists on Wednesday. Elizabeth Schafer scored twice for her second-career multi-goal game. Lil Hancock and Brigid Manning each had two goals as well.
Defensively, Bayley Duffy was sensational in making 10 saves, including a number of stellar stops. Bridget Valentine had five groundballs, three caused turnovers and two draw controls. Katie Onderdonk and Sienna Diglio each caused two turnovers as well.
The Minutewomen held a commanding 23-9 edge in draw controls, with Katie Peterson tallying a career-high 10, with Cate Marshall adding nine.
"We just started to play the UMass way," said head coach Jana Drummond. "The first half was a slow start, a little bit too many turnovers. We were like let's play the UMass way, let's focus on us and let's play together. I thought they did a great job coming out in the third quarter of executing that and implanting the changes we asked of them."
UMass jumped out to a 5-1 lead after a quarter, with Connaughton tallying two goals and an assist just 11 minutes into the contest.
Bryant hung around in the second quarter, pulling within two at 5-3 after consecutive Gabriella Constant goals. A Riley O'Mara score pulled the Bulldogs within 8-4 at the half.
It took just 1:31 into the third quarter for Morris to score her third goal of the game. Bryant answered, but Connaughton and Lyons single-handedly went on a 5-0 run. After Connaughton started the rally, Lyons scored at 9:39 and 8:15 before Connaughton and Lyons added goals at 7:40 and 5:52, respectively, for a 14-5 lead.
Not long after, Connaughton scored her fifth from the ground in a highlight-reel fashion, giving UMass a 15-6 lead.
Final shots were 41-20 in favor of UMass, with the Minutewomen holding a 21-13 edge in groundballs. UMass had six free-position goals on the afternoon.
