Minutewomen Fall Short in Second Round of A-10 Championship, 67-57

GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- Massachusetts (16-14, 11-7 A-10) was unable to overcome Saint Louis (15-18, 7-11 A-10) in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday night, dropping a 67-57 decision at the Henrico Sports & Events Center.
Stefanie Kulesza set a career-high with nine steals in addition to 12 points and eight rebounds. This mark ties the second-highest steal total in a single game across the program's history.
Yahmani McKayle led all UMass scorers with 15 points, adding three rebounds, two assists, and two steals on the night.
Allie Palmieri tallied 14 points over the course of the game, grabbing five rebounds and three steals.
With the game tied in the first quarter with 3:30 left to play, the Minutewomen went on an 11-0 run to surge ahead. UMass would enter the second quarter with a 19-16 lead.
The Billikens would take control in the second and third quarters, disrupting the Massachusetts offense with physical defending.Â
Trailing by as much as 20 points in the fourth quarter, UMass would battle all the way back to an eight-point deficit. However, the comeback effort fell short as Saint Louis closed out the game 67-57.
