STORRS, CT. -- Massachusetts women's lacrosse (2-3) scored seven or more goal in two quarters of play but fell 19-16 to no. 23 UConn (4-2) on Saturday afternoon at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. Â

Massachusetts opened up an 8-3 lead in the first quarter of play, thanks to a 7-0 scoring run fueled by Kassidy Morris and Delaney Rodriguez-Shaw. The first quarter run was highlighted by four goals scored in the span of 41 seconds.Â

Morris tallied four goals on a team-high eight shots. Rodriguez-Shaw also added four goal, while dishing out two assists on the day. Tessa Shields continued to be efficient in attack, scoring four goals on just five shots.Â

Jordan Dean recorded a game-high 10 draw controls while Rachel Shu and Lauren Carey each tallied two caused turnovers in the matchup. Goalkeeper Catrina Tobin made a game-high 10 saves, playing all 60 minutes in net.Â
