Softball Drops 10-9 Decision to Kent State in Final Day of Camel Stampede

UMass falls to 3-2 on the weekend.
The Minutewomen struck first, as Sophia Thormeyer (1 RBI) and Riain Keefe (2 RBI) each tallied singles in the top of the second to take a 3-0 lead. Kent State would answer with an eight-run inning in the bottom half of the frame. Odyssey Torres and Angie Rama began the comeback rally for Massachusetts with back-to-back RBI singles, cutting the lead to 8-5 after the third. An RBI groundout by Torres brought in Lydia Castro, followed by a wild pitch scoring Riley Kairer cut the deficit to one by the end of the fifth innning. After Keefe drew a walk to open the top of the seventh, freshmen Brooke Musch and Lilly Woodworth hit consecutive triples to take back the lead, 9-8. Kent state would score two off errors in the final frame to steal the victory 10-9.

- 3: Riley Kairer drew three walks, finding her way to home plate on two occasions.
