Minutewomen Dominate From The Start Against Sharks In 19-5 Win

Tessa Shields Recorded a Career-High Six Goals
AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts (1-2) women's lacrosse claimed an emphatic 19-5 victory over LIU (1-3) on Saturday afternoon at Garber Field.
Senior attacker Tessa Shields had a career-high six goals and added an assist to lead the Minutewomen offense on a day when eight players had at least two points. In net, Catrina Tobin played the first 47:52 while making five saves and earning the win.
The Minutewomen controlled the game from the start when Jordan Dean scored just 13 seconds into the contest. Dean finished with a career-high two goals and 15 draw controls as the Minutewomen outshot the Sharks 44-13 (31-11 SOG).
Massachusetts took a 7-0 lead after the first quarter and a 12-3 advantage into the half. Ava Connaughton added three goals, while Kassidy Morris had a pair of tallies.
The Sharks were led by Julia Trainor who scored one goal on a team-high four shots.
