Massachusetts Blank Dartmouth in Final Non-Conference Matchup

AMHERST -- Massachusetts (5-4-5) notched a 2-0 victory over Ivy League opponent, Dartmouth (3-5-3) in the final non-conference contest of the year.

JP Mbuthia netted both goals for the Minutemen earning his second brace of the year. Keeper, Dean Linden earned his third start of the season with and secured his second shut out of the season.

BREAKING DOWN THE ACTION

Dartmouth's Eidur Baldvinsson started the offense attempts with a shot off target in the opening minute.
Baldvinsson made a second attempt in the 18^th minute with Linden making a diving save to keep the scoreboard even.
Back-to-back attempts by Braeden Wright and Gavin Brummer could not find the back of the net.
The Minutemen earned their second corner in the 24^th minute but could not convert.
Dartmouth got a corner in the 35^th minute with a look by Will Lulka but couldn't break through.
Brummer's attempt was saved by keeper Matt McPherson in the 38^th minute.
Massachusetts opened the second half with a corner but couldn't break through.
Quinn Belt's strike towards the top right of the net in the 57^th minute was saved by McPherson.
In the 71^st minute, Mbuthia cracked the stalemate off a rebound from Shane Velez to give the team a 1-0 lead.
Ivan Vrh and and Matt Cence tried to give the Minutemen some insurance but came up empty.
Assisted by Joey Bianco, Mbuthia added to the the tally in the 80^th minute for a 2-0 advantage.
Massachusetts continued to look for scoring opportunities but secured the win.
