Geczy Earns Second-Straight Clean Sheet as UMass Draws Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Massachusetts Men's Soccer (0-0-2, 0-0-0 A10) took Bryant (0-0-1, 0-0-0 AE), to the wire on Monday night, ending in its second-straight scoreless draw to open the season.
Alex Geczy earned his second clean sheet of the 2024 campaign, denying three shots including a free kick in the 79th minute to keep the score level.
Stout defending was the theme on the pitch throughout the full 90 minutes, with both teams recording a combined five shots on goal. The Minutemen's first shot on goal came in the 36th minute when Alec Hughes found open space, rifling a shot from the left side of the box. However, neither side was able to convert on their only shot on goal in the first half, entering the break with a 0-0 stalemate.
Hughes would stay aggressive in the second half, firing three quality looks in hopes to break the ice for UMass for the first time this season. Bryant's goalkeeper would deny the graduate forward on his second shot of the half, while his third shot rang the woodwork for the Minutemen's best look of the night.
The Bulldogs would get a last-second corner in the 90th minute, however a save by Geczy left the game scoreless as time expired.
