Massachusetts Men's Lacrosse's Knote Named USILA Scholar All-American For Second Straight Season

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse 2024 graduate Matt Knote has tabbed a Division I Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) for a second time in his career. The goalkeeper also earned the honor as a senior in 2023.
Knote, who earned his Master's of business analytics this spring was a sport management major as an undergraduate, was member of the 2023 CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team and was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team both in 2023 and 2024.
In his final collegiate season, Knote was selected as a 2024 Honorable Mention USA Lacrosse All-American. He earned a major conference award for a second straight year in 2024 after being selected as the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and his second straight NEILA All-New England First Team selection. The Speonk, New York native picked up his fourth all-conference recognition this season after also being named to the CAA First Team in back-to-back years in 2021 and 2022 and to the A-10 First Team in 2023.
In 2024, Knote ended the season 13th nationally in save percentage (.553), second in the A-10 and the conference leader in saves per-game at 13.00, good for 13th nationally, while ranking 22nd nationally in goals-against average (10.68).
He posted 12 double-digit save to contribute to his total of 185 stops on the year and logged 31 ground balls and two caused turnovers. Knote scored a full-field length highlight reel goal against Vermont on March 9 for his first tally of his career.
Knote finished his career with the Gorillas having played in 59 games over five seasons and a total of 3507:32 minutes. He posted a 10.47 goals against average and a .551 save percentage with a record of 31-28 and leaves UMass ranked third all-time in career saves with 752.
