Gorgenyi And Rowland Take Gold For UMass Women's Track & Field On Day Two Of Atlantic 10 Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The University of Massachusetts women's track & field team earned a pair of gold medals on day two of the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center, helping the team to a fourth-place finish with 73 points. VCU took home the team title with a score of 135.

The Minutewomen will conclude their indoor season at the New England Championships, which will be held at The TRACK at New Balance on March 1-2.
Highlights from competition:
- The Minutewomen's first gold of the weekend came in 60 meter hurdles as Katelyn Gorgenyi led the field in 8.73 seconds, improving to third all-time in program history. Jennifer Williams also picked up points in the event, taking sixth in 8.91 seconds.
- UMass' other individual title came in high jump as Courtney Rowland cleared 5 feet, 8 inches to match her career best to earn the top spot. Tessa Bostwick also scored in high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4.5 inches for fourth.
- UMass had two scorers in the mile with Alex Costantino placing fourth (4:57.11) and Rylee Shunney placing seventh (5:02.94).
- Elise O'Leary was eighth in the 800 meter final.
- The 4x800 relay squad of Costantino, Simone Harrison, Charlotte Henning and Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio came in fifth at 9:08.16.
- UMass' 4x400 team of Caroline Mullady, O'Leary, Ali Murphy and Sadai Headley-Mawasi combined for a time of 3:50.67 to take sixth.
The Minutewomen will conclude their indoor season at the New England Championships, which will be held at The TRACK at New Balance on March 1-2.
