Minutewomen Claim Four Major A-10 Awards, Place 14 On All-Conference Teams

UMass claimed four major awards and placed 14 on all-Atlantic 10 teams.
AMHERST, Mass. – The no. 13-ranked Massachusetts women's lacrosse team claimed four major Atlantic 10 awards and placed 10 on all-league teams as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. Massachusetts placed five athletes on the first-team all-conference squad with three on the second-team and two on the all-rookie squad.
Head coach Jana Drummond was named the A-10 Co-Coach of the Year after helping her team to a 15-1 overall record with a 9-0 mark in conference play and a 14-game win streak to end the regular season. In Drummond's first season at the helm, UMass climbed as high as no. 13 nationally in the IWLCA/ILWomen Top-25 Poll and finished the season with the nation's third-best win percentage. The Minutewomen ranked second among DI teams in both scoring margin and ground balls per game and was fourth in points per game in addition to sixth in scoring.
Fiona McGowan (Westwood, Mass.) was named the A-10 Co-Offensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the all-conference first team after leading the A-10 in assists per game at 2.62 and points per game at 4.94. The senior finished the regular season ranked sixth nationally in assists per game and ninth in total assists with 42 while also ranking inside the top-12 in points with 79 and points per game. The ILWomen Midseason All-America Honorable Mention selection posted a career-high 10 points in the season finale win over George Mason to mark the most points in a single game by an A-10 player since February of 2021. McGowan finished the regular season with 12 multi-assist performances, including six in a win at VCU while scoring a career-high six goals in a top-25 win over Richmond.
Amy Moreau (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) was tabbed the A-10 Midfielder of the Year in addition to earning a spot on the first-team all-conference squad. Moreau ranked third on the UMass squad in assists with 14 and ranked fourth in points and goals with 46 and 32, respectively. The graduate student finished with a season-best eight draw controls in a win at Holy Cross to help her rank second on the team in the category with 51. Moreau finished with multiple goals in 10 contests, including a season-high five goals in a win at Saint Joseph's. The midfielder recorded six points on four goals and two assists while causing three turnovers in a top-25 win over Richmond. Moreau also earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.
Audra Tosone (Walpole, Mass.) earned the A-10 Defender of the Year honor and was placed on the A-10 All-Conference First-Team after posting the third-most caused turnovers in a single season at UMass with 39. The senior ranked eighth nationally in caused turnovers per game at 2.38 and was 13th among Division I leaders in ground balls per game with three. Tosone was named the A-10 Defender of the Week four times this year and helped the Minutewomen to the nation's fourth-best scoring defense and second-best scoring margin. The defender has 75 career caused turnovers to rank fifth-most all-time by a Minutewoman. Tosone also was named to the A-10 All-Academic Team.
Jordan Dean (Greenbank, Ontario) was named to the all-conference first team after finishing the season second in the A-10 and 11th among DI leaders in draw controls per game with 7.25. Dean's 116 draw controls this season are fourth most in a single season by a Minutewoman while her 167 career draw controls is fifth-most all-time. The sophomore finished with a career-best 15 draw controls in a win over Duquesne and recorded 12 in a top-25 win over Richmond.
Hannah Heller (West Babylon, N.Y.) earned a spot on the first-team all-conference squad after finishing the season with 25 caused turnovers and 49 draw controls while helping the Minutewomen to the nation's fourth-best scoring defense. Heller finished with multiple caused turnovers in five contests, including a season-high six caused turnovers in a win over La Salle. The defender also added a career-best eight goals and five assists on the season.
Alex Finn (Westwood, Mass.) was named to the A-10 Second-Team All-Conference squad and A-10 All-Academic following a senior season in which she posted 37 goals and 31 assists for 68 points. Finn finished the regular season with the second-best shot percentage nationally at .649 while ranking 31st among DI leaders in assists and 35th in assists per game. The senior scored a season-high five goals in a win at VCU and posted a season-best five assists in a win over La Salle.
Gina Carroll (Ellington, Conn) earned a spot on the second-team all-conference squad after finishing the regular season with 40 saves and a .364 save percentage for a UMass team that finished as the fourth-best scoring defense in Division I. Carroll posted six saves in a top-five matchup at Boston College and added six more the following game against Siena. The graduate student has 216 career saves and a .378 save percentage in four seasons of action.
Catrina Tobin (Sudbury, Mass.) was named to the all-rookie team in addition to the all-conference second-team squad following a redshirt freshman season in which she posted 50 saves with a .490 save percentage. The two-time A-10 Rookie of the Week began the campaign with seven saves in a win over UMass Lowell and went on to post a career-best eight saves in a win at Holy Cross. Tobin also posted five saves in a top-25 win over Richmond and led the A-10 in goals allowed average and save percentage.
Kassidy Morris (Washago, Ontario) was tabbed to the all-rookie team after posting 28 goals and 32 points in her redshirt-freshman campaign. Morris finished the season with a .609 shot percentage and a .848 shot on goal percentage and was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week after scoring three goals with an assist in a win over no. 25-ranked Richmond. The attacker posted nine multi-goal games, including a career-high four goals with an assist for five points in a win over Duquesne.
Layton Nass (Manhasset, N.Y.) earned a spot on the A-10 All-Academic Team and was one of four Minutewomen to land on the squad. Nass was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week after posting four caused turnovers in a season opening win over UMass Lowell and finished the year with 21 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls.
The Minutewomen begin Atlantic 10 postseason play on Friday at noon in Richmond, Va. against either no. 4-seed Davidson or no. 5-seed St. Bonaventure.
