Knote And Procyk Represent Massachusetts Men's Lacrosse On CSC Academic All-District At-Large Team

AMHERST, Mass. – Senior Matt Knote and graduate student Gabriel Procyk of the University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse program have been recognized among the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom as members of the 2023 Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, which were announced on Tuesday.
 
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21.
 
Knote, a sport management major, was also named an Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team member this spring. He is an Inside Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-American, a USA Lacrosse Magazine third team All-American, the 2023 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year and earned spots on the All-New England first team and Atlantic 10 All-Conference First team.
 
The four-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week ended the 2023 campaign as the national leader in save percentage (.593) and was tops in the A-10 in goals against average (9.33, fourth nationally) and saves per-game (13.43, 10th nationally). He finished 8-6 on the year after starting all 14 games and has 188 saves to his credit in 829 minutes, 35 seconds between the pipes with 31 ground balls and is a native of Speonk, New York.
 
Procyk, an accounting major, finished second for UMass in scoring with 38 points in 2023 on 21 goals and 17 assists. He had at least 1 point in all 14 games in 2023, scoring in last 13 straight.
 
The Coquitlam, British Columbia native ranks sixth all-time in program history in career goals and 16th in points. This spring he became the 11th player in program history with 100+ career goals and also leaves UMass as the program record holder for man-up goals with 23. Procyk, an Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team member this spring, ends his career with the Gorillas with 121 goals and 33 assists over 60 games with a 35.1% shot percentage, 72 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.
