After two scoreless innings, Davidson scored two runs in the top of the third on a solo home run and a RBI double, taking the lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Tichy singled through the left side to take his place at first, before a passed ball advanced him to second. Luttazi hit a single to put Tichy at third. Hanson stepped up the plate with two outs, sailing the ball to left center field for a two-run double, bringing around Tichy and Luttazi to knot the game up at 2-2.
The contest saw two more scoreless innings, but the Wildcats reclaimed the lead at 3-2 in the top of the sixth with another solo homer to right field. The Minutemen brought the game back to a 3-3 draw in the bottom of the sixth, before taking a 4-3 lead. Back-to-back singles from Toth and Justin Blumenthal placed them at second and first, respectively. Zaetta stepped into the box, tallying an RBI on a fielder's choice, as an error on the Davidson pitcher allowed Toth to score an unearned run. With Blumenthal in scoring position, a single from MacLean pushed Blumenthal across the plate for the lead.
Davidson had a six-run top half of the seventh to take back the lead at 9-4. Massachusetts came back within four in the bottom of the seventh on a RBI single from Toth, sending Hanson around to touch the dish. With the bases loaded, Zaetta claimed first on a fielder's choice, as Sam Hill added an unearned run for the Minutemen, closing the gap to three at 9-6.
The Wildcats tacked on two more runs in the eighth and three more in the final frame, closing the game out with its final tally of 14-6.
