AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team will hit the road for a pair of conference matchups this week, beginning with a Wednesday afternoon game against St. Bonaventure before traveling to Philadelphia to square off with Saint Joseph's on Saturday. Tomorrow's match kicks off at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
Series vs. St. Bonaventure
The last time the Minutemen and Bonnies took the field together, the two teams battled to a 1-1 draw at Rudd Field in 2022. The Minutemen are looking for their first win over St. Bonaventure since 2016 when UMass won 1-0 at home. The Minutemen are 20-5-2 all-time against the Bonnies, and are 3-1-1 in the last five.
Series vs. Saint Joseph's
Saturday's match will mark the 31st time the Minutemen and Hawks faced each other. UMass and Saint Joseph's last meeting ended in a 0-0 draw at Rudd Field last season. UMass' last victory over the Hawks came in 2021 when the Minutemen left Philadelphia with a 1-0 conference victory. UMass is 2-1-2 in the last five games against Saint Joseph's and is 20-6-4 all-time.
Atlantic 10 Weekly Honors
Senior forward Alec Hughes and graduate student defender Pierre de la Croix-Vaubois both earned Atlantic 10 Weekly awards for their performances last week. Hughes netted the lone goal in a 1-1 draw against #14 Vermont while De la Croix-Vaubois led the defense. Against George Washington, Hughes scored again, while De la Croix-Vaubois and the Minutemen defense didn't give up a shot on goal. De la Croix-Vaubois also recorded an assist and Hughes goal moved him into sole possession of eighth on the all-time career goals list at UMass.
Conference Leaders
Senior forwards Alec Hughes and Nick Zielonka are atop the Atlantic 10 Conference leaders in offense. Hughes leads the A-10 in five separate categories. He is first in points (18), goals (9), goals per game (.82), shots per game (4.09) and shots on goal per game (2.09). Zielonka on the other hand, is in solo lead of total assists with six
Looking Ahead
UMass is back at home Saturday, October 14th, when they take on Fordham at 1 p.m. The Minutemen then head to UMass Lowell to play the River Hawks for the Kennedy Cup on Tuesday, October 17th.
