AMHERST, Mass - The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team will take on Davidson this Saturday on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
Senior Day
Prior to kickoff, we will be honoring eight members of the team for a Senior Day celebration. If you will be joining a player on the field, please arrive at Rudd Field 45 minutes before kickoff.
Series vs. Davidson
Tuesday's game will mark the seventh time UMass and Davidson will face each other. The all-time series is currently 1-4-1 in favor of the Wildcats. In last year's matchup, Davidson topped the Minutemen 1-0 in North Carolina. The last UMass victory came in 2021, by way of a 3-2 decision at Rudd Field.
The Week Of Zielonka
A week ago, Nick Zielonka led the Minutemen to two conference wins over St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's. The senior forward had a pair of goals against the Bonnies and assisted the game winning goal against Hawks. His performances led to a pair of weekly accolades. His performances earned him Atlantic 10 Offensive Player Of The Week and UMass' Student Athletes Of The Week accolades. Zielonka ended last week by scoring the lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Fordham by netting an Olimpico.
Hughes' Place In The Record Books
After recording a brace against St. Bonaventure, Alec Hughes sits in 6th place all-time in career goals at UMass with 31. Hughes' two tallies put him past Dave Siljanovski (1993-96) and is now two goals shy of Andy Bing (1984-87) and Clarence Simpson(1951-53) . Hughes' 11 goals this season lead the conference and is third in the nation.
Looking Ahead
The Minutemen will close out the regular season next Saturday as they head to Ohio for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Dayton Flyers.
