Women’s Soccer Stays Unblemished At Home With 4-1 Win Over Loyola Chicago

The Minutewomen’s five straight home wins ties with the 1984 and 2001 season.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team remained unblemished on its home turf with a 4-1 victory over Loyola Chicago on Sunday afternoon at Rudd Field.
With a 5-0 record at home, it is the first time the program has been undefeated following Rudd Field's opening in the fall of 2002, including ties, since both the 2021 and 2008 seasons, when the team won six straight. The five consecutive home wins for the Minutewomen also ties with the 1984 and 2001 seasons.
The Minutewomen are now 7-3-3 overall on the year and 4-1-1 in league competition, while the Ramblers fall to 5-6-2 overall, including 1-2-2 in the A-10.
Junior forward Ashley Lamond scored her fifth goal of the season to put UMass ahead 1-0 in the 29th minute, after taking a pass across inside the box from junior midfielder Bella Recinos.
In the second half, Recinos notched a goal of her own, recording the fifth of the season, in the 47th minute, with an assist from junior midfielder Emma Pedolzky to extend Massachusetts' lead to 2-0. Pedolzky then scored her second goal of the year off a pass from Recinos in the 53rd minute.
Loyola Chicago got on the board in the 65th minute on an unassisted goal by Olivia Knab off the corner kick, making it a 3-1 contest, but the Minutewomen sealed the deal in the 77th minute with another goal to pull ahead 4-1. Senior forward Lauren Robles booted the ball into the middle of the net off a rebound shot from freshman forward Caroline Dickson.
The Ramblers outshot the Minutewomen, 14-12, while putting 10 shots on goal to UMass' four. Loyola Chicago took 11 corner kicks, while Massachusetts had one.
Recinos led the team with four points on one goal and a game-high two assists, tying her career-best. Pedolzky followed with three points, registering a goal and an assist on the day. Lamond led the team in shots with three, placing one on target.
Senior goalkeeper Bella Mendoza made a season-high nine saves on the afternoon, allowing only one goal, through 90 minutes of play. Naya Lipkens of Loyola Chicago played 83:58 minutes in net, allowing four goals and tallied no saves.
UMass will compete in one game on the week, taking a small break, before welcoming St. Bonaventure to Rudd Field on Sunday, October 8. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+. The Minutewomen will honor 11 seniors on the afternoon.
