Minutewomen To Take On Boston University At Home Tomorrow

AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team concludes non-conference play this week when they take on Boston University at home tomorrow and Harvard on the road Sunday. The Minutewomen host the Terriers at Rudd Field tomorrow for a 4 p.m. kickoff before heading to Cambridge, Mass. on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match at No. 20-ranked Harvard.
Last Time Out
The Minutewomen picked up a pair of 2-2 home draws last week against Boston College and UMass Lowell. In Thursday's draw against BC, Juliana Ryan scored in the final minute of play to help the Minutewomen secure its first result against the Eagles since 2001. In front of a large crowd at Rudd Field on Sunday, Lauren Bonavita scored twice to help UMass to a draw.
LB Is Ballin'
Lauren Bonavita scored three goals in a pair of home draws for the Minutewomen last week. The graduate forward scored the game's opening goal in the 18th-minute to tie Boston Colleege in an eventual 2-2 draw. Against UMass Lowell on Sunday, Bonavita scored twice, including the game-tying goal in the 53rd-minute. Bonavita ranks tied for second in the A-10 in goals on the season with four and ranks second in the conference in shot accuracy. Her four goals also rank 28th-most in the country.
All-Time vs. Boston University/Harvard
The series between UMass and Boston University is tied at 5-5-0 dating back to the first meeting during the 1979 season. UMass claimed the last matchup between the two a season ago with a 2-1 win behind goals by Bella Recinos and Lauren Smida. The Minutewomen lead the series with Harvard 15-11-2 dating back to 1978 with the last UMass win coming in 2015.
Massachusetts Leaders
Bonavita leads the Minutewomen with four goals on the season while Ella Curry joins her atop the UMass list with two goals of her own. Olivia Gouldsbury has three points by way of a goal and an assist while Chandler Pedolzky leads UMass in assists with two. Defensively, Fiona Kane has logged a team-leading 481 minutes of play while Megan Olszewski has 405 minutes in goal across six contests.
Looking Ahead
Atlantic 10 play begins on Thursday, Sept. 15 with a 7 p.m. kickoff at VCU in the league opener. The Minutewomen then return home to Rudd Field to take on Davidson on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. in the conference home opener. UMass also hosts Dayton for its Flagship 50 game on Sunday, Sept. 25
