September 08, 2022 | Women's Soccer
The Minutewomen will be back home on Sept. 18 for the A-10 home opener following a pair of matches on the road.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team fell to Boston University by a score of 1-0 on Thursday evening at Rudd Field. The Minutewomen wrap up non-conference play at No. 20-ranked Harvard on Sunday before the Atlantic 10 opener against VCU on Thursday, Sept. 15.
Boston University scored the game's only goal in the 13th minute after a Morgan Fagan shot was saved by Megan Olszewski before finding the Fagan again for a goal moments later. The Terriers put five of their 12 shots on goal while the Minutewomen attempted nine with one on target.
Layal Khartabil nearly tied it up in the 52nd minute with a shot near the very top of the goal that was saved away by the Terriers' Gretchen Bennett. Lauren Bonavita got a good look in front of goal in the 80th-minute, taking a shot that hit the left post and stayed out to keep the game level. Bella Recinos followed up Bonavita's shot with one of her own that was blocked by the BU defense.
Megan Olszewski finished with three saves in the first half while Bella Mendoza recorded one over the final 45 minutes of play.
