August 28, 2022 | Women's Soccer
Ella Curry answered a Robert Morris goal just over two minutes later to tie at 1-1 on her second of the year.
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The University of Massachusetts women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw on the road against Robert Morris at the North Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Minutewomen responded to a Colonials goal in the 37th-minute with a goal of their own just over two minutes later while holding the opponent without a shot for the next hour of play.
Ella Curry scored the game-tying goal in the 39th-minute for her second goal of the season and third of her career. The sequence began from an Ashley Lamond corner kick to the far post that was headed back and down towards Curry by Maya Masotti. Curry played a right-footed shot through traffic and found the back of the night on the right side of goal to tie the game and give Masotti her first collegiate assist.
Robert Morris got on the board first in the 37th-minute after a Haleigh Finale shot deflected off a UMass defender and into the bottom right corner of goal. Defensively, the Minutewomen held the Colonials without a shot until a pair of tries in the final 3:03 of action. UMass finished with a 13 to five shot advantage while putting seven on target to Robert Morris' two.
Chandler Pedolzky led the Minutewomen on the afternoon with three shots and was one of seven different players to put a shot on frame in the contest.
The Minutewomen return home to Rudd Field for the first of three straight games at home beginning with a match against Boston College on Thursday at 4 p.m.
