UMass' Kirry Set For Competition At NCAA East Preliminary Championships

May 25, 2022 | Women's Track & Field

The sophomore will run in the 400 hurdles first round on Thursday.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field sophomore Lillian Kirry will see her first NCAA East Preliminary action on her career when she takes to the track on Thursday, May 26, to compete in the first round of the 400 meter hurdles at the Haugh Track & Field Complex on the campus of Indiana University at 8:20 p.m.

Kirry will run in the first of six heats in lane 2. Twenty four athletes will advance to compete in Saturday night's quarterfinals, the top-three in each first round heat and the next six fastest times.

Kirry, a native of Chewelah, Washington, ran a personal best 58.67 to win the New England title in 400 meter hurdles earlier this month to break her own school record in the event. The 2022 Atlantic 10 400 hurdle champion became the first Minutewoman to run a sub-60 time in the event when she first set the program all-time mark, 59.48 at the Friar Invitational on April 8.

The meet action will be live streamed for free by Indiana, while live results can be found here.
