UMass' Kirry Advances To NCAA Quarterfinals in 400 Meter Hurdles

The sophomore finished third in her heat in Thursday’s first round action to earn a quarterfinals berth.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field sophomore Lillian Kirry has advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in 400 meter hurdles at the NCAA East Preliminary Championship on the campus of Indiana University.
The Chewelah, Washington native ran 58.83 seconds to third in the opening heat to earn her an automatic qualification for the quarterfinals. Her time was good for 20th in the field of 48 competitors.
Kirry will be back in action on Saturday, May 28, racing in the second of three heats in lane nine. The top-three from each heat plus the next three fastest times will advance to the National Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
