Men’s Track & Field Collects Four Medals On Day Two Of New England Championships

The Minutemen finished third in the team standings with 52 points.
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field collected four medals on day two of the New England Championships, helping the squad finish third in the team standings out of 40 schools. The Minutemen posted a score of 52 points, trailing only team champion Southern Connecticut (170.5) and Rhode Island (114).
Michael Norberg won the 3,000 meter steeplechase title in 9 minutes, 9.06 seconds, while Zach Lefever took home bronze with a time of 9 minutes, 19.84 seconds and Matthew George placed fifth, clocking in at 9:30.31.
Lucas Honohan ran 47.30 seconds to bronze in the 400 meter dash and anchored the 4x400 meter squad, combining with Colin Stoddard, Sean McKay and Christopher Matthews to take bronze with the No. 3 performance in program history, 3 minutes, 13.94, and the program's fastest 4x400 since 1999.
Joseph Duggan placed sixth in discus, throwing 163 feet, 11 inches for the new No. 5 all-time mark in the school's record book. Daniel Dubsky rounded out the individual scorers for the Minutemen, taking sixth in 400 meter hurdles with a time of 53.93 seconds.
The 4x100 meter relay team of Felipe Gonzalez, Ethan Clark, Michael Rodia and Honohan ran 41.78 seconds to fifth.
