UMass Men’s Track & Field Lands Fifth At Ocean State Invitational

Daniel Dubsky took first in 400 hurdles for the lone individual win for the Minutemen on the day.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field competed at the Ocean State Invitational at Brown on Saturday and posted a team score of 69 to place fifth in the team standings. Dartmouth earned the top spot with a score of 177, followed by Rhode Island (164), Brown (107) and Bryant (91.5).
 
Daniel Dubsky was victorious in 400 meter hurdles, running 55.34 seconds to lead the field.  
 
UMass scored three in the 400 meter dash as Christopher Matthews earned the runner-up spot with a time of 50.94 seconds, while Sean McKay was sixth (51.92) and Jackson Walker took seventh (53.72).
 
Mason Miller claimed 4th in 110 meter hurdles in 16.22 seconds and Matthew Tarantino placed fifth in 16.60 seconds. Patrick Walsh rounded out the individual scorers on the track for the Minutemen, placing eighth in the 100 meter dash in 11.04 seconds.
 
Tyler Glendon's mark of 21 feet, 5.25 inches earned him second in long jump and Miller captured eighth with a leap of 19 feet, 6 inches. Miller also scored in high jump, taking sixth after clearing 5 feet, 7 inches.
 
In addition to his scoring finish in 110 meter hurdles, Tarantino also picked up points for UMass in high jump (seventh, 5'7") and pole vault (fifth, 13'15").
 
Tevin Early placed second in discus with a throw of 153'10" and Flynn Mitchell was sixth in javelin with a toss of 173 feet, 4 inches.
 
The Minutemen's 4x400 meter relay of Dubsky, Mason Benton, Bernd Martens and Matthews combined for a third-place time of 3 minutes, 24.36 seconds.
 
UMass returns to action next weekend, splitting the squad between the UConn Northeast Challenge on Friday and Saturday, April 15-16 and hosting WPI, Boston University, Harvard and Hartford on Saturday, April 16.
