Women’s Track And Field Sets Three All-Time Marks At Friar Invitational

Kirry’s performance highlighted the night, setting a school record in 400 meter hurdles.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field set three new all-time marks in the program's record book at the Friar Invitational on Friday night at Ray Treacy Track at Providence College. Two of the performances came in 400 meter hurdles, including a new school record, while the third came in the mile run.
 
Lillian Kirry became the first in program history to go under one minute in 400 meter hurdles, posting a school record time of 59.48 to win the event. Sarah Yocum crossed just behind Kirry in second with the No. 3 time in program history, 1 minute, .44 seconds. Kira Kopec was fifth in 1 minute, 2.79 seconds, as well.
 
Colette O'Leary ran 4 minutes, 59.07 seconds to 10th in the mile run, good for the No. 4 time in the UMass record book and the fastest time by a Minutewoman since 2018.
 
Abby Collins won the 100 meter dash in 12.18 seconds, while Faith Richardson was the runner up with a time of 12.30. Elizabeth Lodge took second in 100 meter hurdles in 14.89 seconds. Lodge was victorious in high jump, clearing 5 feet, 4.5 inches. 
 
Samantha Schwers turned in a sixth-place finish in the 800 meter run, crossing the finish in 2 minutes, 15.19 seconds and Daniella Pierre was eighth in the 400 meter dash, clocking in at 59.28 seconds.

The Minutewomen will be back in action tomorrow, April 9, at the Ocean State Invitational at Brown.
