Men's Track & Field Claims Second On Senior Day

The Minutemen posted a score of 108.25, trailing only Dartmouth (130) in the eight-team field.
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field capped its 2022 outdoor home slate by taking second in the team scoring at the UMass Track & Field Complex on Saturday. The Minutemen posted a score of 108.25, trailing only Dartmouth (130) in the eight-team field.
Coston O'Brien won shot put with a personal record of 52 feet, 9.5 inches, good for fifth all-time in program history. O'Brien was fifth in hammer (166'8"), while William Dion placed seventh (162'2"). In discus, Joseph Duggan was the runner-up with a toss of 154 feet, 10 inches. Tevin Early followed in third (154'0") and O'Brien was sixth (146'1").
UMass placed three in the top-eight in javelin. Flynn Mitchell earned third with a mark of 168 feet, 8 inches, while Joseph Manchester took home fifth (167'5") and Peter Kitsakos threw 154 feet, 3 inches for eighth.
To round out the Minutemen scoring in the field, Mason Miller was third in high jump at 6 feet, 0.75 inches, Allan Bellevue took third in triple jump (39'4") and Tyler Glendon captured seventh in long jump (22'3.5").
UMass took four of the top-eight spots in 400 meter dash, led by Lucas Honohan in first, clocking in at 47.68 inches. Colin Stoddard and Christopher Matthews completed the top-three Minuteman sweep with times of 48.39 and 49.82, respectively. Bernd Martens was sixth in 51.10 seconds.
In 400 meter hurdles, Daniel Dubsky took the top spot with a time of 54.35 seconds, while Sean McKay was sixth (56.10) and Nasir Perry claimed seventh (57.13). Mason Miller was the lone UMass scorer in 110 meter hurdles, running 16.21 seconds to fifth.
Felipe Gonzalez was the runner-up in 200 meter dash in 21.95 seconds and Caleb Zylka and Xavier Metivier were seventh (15:39.35) and eighth (15:51.66) in the 5,000 meter run.
UMass swept both relays with Gonzalez, Ethan Clark, Michael Rodia and Honohan running 41.74 seconds for the win in the 4x100. In the 4x400, Stoddard, Sean McKay, Matthews and Honohan posted the top time of 3 minutes, 17.10 seconds.
Massachusetts will be back in action next weekend at VCU in Richmond, Virginia for the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8.
