Massachusetts Men's Track & Field Earns Two Medals On Day Two Of A-10 Championships

Grant collected silver in the 1,000m and Lefever captured bronze in the 3,00m.
FAIRFAX, Va. – University of Massachusetts men's track and field collected a pair of medals on the final day of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Sunday at George Mason University Field House. The Minutemen finished eighth in the team standings with a score of 42, while Rhode Island captured the team title with a score of 199.
Freshman Shane Grant earned a silver medal in the 1,000 meter run, clocking in at 2 minutes, 26.88 seconds.
In the 3,000 meter run, graduate student Zach Lefever crossed the finish in 8 minutes, 24.67 seconds to take home a bronze medal.
UMass scored two more in individual events on the track. Senior Lucas Honohan was eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.81 and freshman Alex Laurent captured seventh in the 500 meter at 1 minute, 6.53 seconds.
The Minutemen's 4x400 meter relay team of Colin Stoddard, Laurent, Daniel Dubsky and Honohan teamed up to run 3 minutes, 19.89 seconds for fourth.
UMass' 4x800 meter relay of Nicholas Calitri, Will Kenney, Mojuba Shonekan and Benjamin Burgess ran 7 minutes, 57.81 seconds to eighth.
In shot put, Coston O'Brien threw 52 feet, 2.75 inches for fifth.
