Swimming And Diving Concludes Day One At Colgate Invitational

The two-day Colgate Invitational continues tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
HAMILTON, N.Y. – The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team opened its 2022-23 season on Friday evening at the Colgate Invitational at the Lineberry Natatorium. Competition continues tomorrow at the Colgate Invitational at 10 a.m.

Top Finishes
Bella Snyder opened the night with a first-place finish in the 1650 Free with a swim of 17:54.01 as part of five individual top finishes for Minutewomen. Beatriz Olivieri won a pair of races, first in the 200 Free with a time of 1:56.16 before winning the 200 Fly with a swim of 2:08.18. Megan Mitchell led two Minutewomen in the top-three 100 Back with the winning time of 57.90 while Bri Williams finished in third. Summer Pierce led three top-four finishers in the 100 Breast with Maggie Desmond and Olivia Mozoki rounding out the top-four.

Jamie MacDonald posted a pair of top-three finishes for the Minutemen, going one-two with teammate Nadav Granot in the 400 IM with a winning time of 4:12.42 before adding a third-place finish in the 200 Fly. Grant Beebe led three Minutemen in the top-five of the 50 Free in the final event of the evening, taking second with a time of 21.75 while Sammy Quigg and Joe Tonna finished in third and fifth, respectively. Jack Artis claimed a runner-up finish in the 100 Breast with Freddie Borg taking third. Wilson Dubois began the night with a second-place time of 16:56.89 in the 1650 Free.

One-Two Relay
The Minutewomen claimed the top two spots in the 400 Medley Relay, led by a time of 3:56.18 compiled by Megan Mitchell, Olivia Mozoki, Summer Pierce, and Caroline Mahoney. The relay team of Bri Williams, Maggie Desmond, Beatriz Olivieri, and Anna Kwon took second with a time of 3:57.72.

Diving Results
Emma Petrovich won the 1-Meter Dive with a top score of 243.45 to lead three Minutewomen in the top-four. Salem Howes finished third while Shreeya Sinha took fourth. Andrew Bell led the Minutemen in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 274.15 to place third.
