Notarfrancesco Leads UMass Women's Track & Field At Beantown Challenge

The senior won shot put and scored in weight throw.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field was in action at Harvard on Saturday at the Beantown Challenge, finishing sixth of seven teams with 39.5 points. UConn took the top spot at the meet with 167 points.
Senior Danielle Notarfrancesco won shot put with a throw of 48 feet 2.75 inches and also picked up points in weight throw with a toss of 51 feet, 10.5 inches, taking sixth. Kira Kopec was eighth in shot put (40'1.25") and Gabriella Pagnini was eighth in weight throw (50'6").
UMass scored three in 60 meter hurdles, led by Sarah Yocum in third with a time of 8.90 seconds. Lillian Kirry followed in fourth (8.91) and Katelyn Gorgenyi was seventh (9.14). Kirry also scored in the 500m, claiming fourth in 1 minute, 17.65 seconds.
Abby Collins placed sixth in 60 meter dash in 7.95 seconds and Faith Richardson tied her own school record in preliminaries in 7.64 seconds but did not race in the final.
The Minutewomen had two scorers in jumps, as Lea Doerries was seventh in high jump (5'1.75") and Sophia Casciano captured seventh in pole vault (11'2.25").
The Minutewomen will be back in action on Saturday, January 15, at the URI Invitational in Kingston, R.I.
