Women’s Track & Field Produces Three Top-Five All-Time Performances At BU

Yocum, Casciano and Pagnini set all-time marks in 60 hurdles, pole vault and weight throw.
BOSTON – University of Massachusetts women's track and field produced three top-five all-time performances at the Battle in Beantown at the Boston University Track & Tennis on Saturday. The three marks were set in 60 meter hurdles, pole vault and weight throw.
Sophia Casciano matched her personal best in pole vault, clearing 12 feet, 3.5 inches, good for second in the program record book and fifth at the meet.
In weight throw, Gabriella Pagnini took eighth with a toss of 53 feet, 0 inches to land her fourth all-time in UMass history. Pagnini also took second in shot put at 39 feet 2.25 inches. In the Jarred Rome shot put, Danielle Notarfrancesco claimed fourth with a mark of 46 feet, 10.75 inches.
Emily McDonald was the runner-up in triple jump, leaping 39 feet, 1.25 inches and Jordan LaFave placed fourth in long jump at 18 feet, 1 inches. In high jump, Madelyn Krohto rounded out the top-eight finishers in the field for UMass, taking seventh in high jump at 5 feet, 3 inches.
On the track Sarah Yocum ran 8.82 seconds to fifth, setting a new No. 4 time in the UMass record book. Kira Kopec followed in seventh at 8.97 seconds.
Sadai Headley Mawassi and Elizabeth Hoenes finished sixth and seventh in 400 meter dash with times of 59.41 seconds and 59.58 seconds. Lily Robinson was seventh in 3,000 meter run, clocking in at 9 minutes, 58.23 seconds.
UMass' 4x400 meter relay team of Kopec, Headley-Mawasi, Daniella Pierre and Hoenes combined to run 3 minutes, 56.45 seconds to sixth.
The Minutewomen will resume action next Saturday, January 29, at the Orange and Blue Invite in Utica, New York.
