Last Time Out
The Minutewomen picked up a 2-1 win in overtime at Duquesne on Sunday in the Atlantic 10 opener. Chandler Pedolzky scored the game-tying goal in the 50th-minute off an assist from Karina Groff after the Dukes took the lead in the 3rd-minute. UMass went on to win the match on an own goal in the 100th-minute after a ball sent into the box by Mia Carazza was headed in by a Dukes defender.
A-10 Rookie of the Week
Pedolzky was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday for the second time this season after putting home a pair of goals last week. The freshman scored the game's only goal in a shutout win over Yale last Wednesday and added the game-tying goal in the win at Duquesne.
The Opponents
George Mason comes to Amherst tomorrow with a 3-6-0 overall record after winning their A-10 opener on Sunday at Saint Joseph's 2-1. The Patriots are led offensively by Grace Hotaling's two goals and three assists for seven points while Kolbrun Eyjolfsdottir has put home a team-leading three goals on the year. Rhode Island comes to town on Sunday with a 2-4-1 overall record and picked up a 1-0 win over Davidson in their conference opener. Tali O'Leary has scored a team-leading two goals for the Rams while Faith Hutchins has logged all 650 minutes in goal with a 1.11 goals against average.
Unbeaten Streak
The Minutewomen head into the pair of league matches this week on a seven-match unbeaten streak dating back to a 3-0 win over UMass Lowell on Aug. 26. UMass holds a 5-0-2 record during the span after winning a pair of games last week. The unbeaten streak is the longest for the Minutewomen since the 2018 campaign, when they won seven straight games and added a draw for an eight-match unbeaten run.
