August 23, 2021 | Women's Lacrosse
AMHERST, Mass. – Massachusetts women's lacrosse head coach Angela McMahon announced Monday that Nicole Beardsley has joined the staff as an assistant coach. Beardsley has spent the last four seasons as the Director of Operations at Northwestern.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Nicole to Amherst," McMahon said. "She has an exceptional work ethic, and an inquisitive mindset that is eager to learn. Having been mentored at Northwestern by the best coach in lacrosse, Kelly Amonte-Hiller, Nicole will undoubtedly help our athletes elevate in all areas of their experience."
At Northwestern, Beardsley worked with one of the top coaching staffs in the NCAA that included UMass alumni Tim McCormack and Scott Hiller as well as nationally renowned head coach Kelly Amonte-Hiller. The Wildcats reached the 2018 NCAA Quarterfinals in her first season and the NCAA Semifinals during both the 2019 and 2021 seasons.
"I am deeply honored by and grateful for the opportunity extended by Coach McMahon and Senior Associate Athletic Director Jeff Smith to join the UMass women's lacrosse program as an assistant coach," Beardsley said. "Angela and (associate head coach) Jana Drummond have built and developed a talented and hardworking program that is easy to be excited about. I'm thrilled to join this staff and get started supporting and guiding our student-athletes to new heights on and off the field."
Prior to joining Amonte Hiller's staff, Beardsley played for the Wildcats making her debut during the 2015 season. During her time as a student-athlete, she was selected to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team and played in a combined 41 games in her last two seasons.
The New York native graduated from the Northwestern School of Education and Social Policy in 2018 with a degree in Human Development and Psychological Services.
