July 13, 2021 | Men's Soccer
The Minutemen open up the regular season at home on Aug. 26 against Northeastern.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team announced its 17-game regular season schedule for the 2021 season on Wednesday afternoon. The 2021 schedule features eight home games and eight Atlantic 10 matches, with the regular season opening up at home on Aug. 26 at 1 p.m. against Northeastern while A-10 play begins on Sept. 18 against Saint Louis at Rudd Field.
The matchup against Vermont on Sept. 11 is part of UMass' Hall of Fame weekend. Men's Soccer Alumni Weekend is also being held to coincide with long-time head coach Sam Koch's induction into the UMass Athletics George "Trigger" Burke Hall of Fame Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
The Minutemen have nine non-conference matches on the 2021 schedule, including back-to-back road games at Sacred Heart and Boston University following the opener against Northeastern. UMass hosts Central Connecticut State, Vermont, and Dartmouth at Rudd Field before opening up the A-10 slate against Saint Louis. The squad breaks from league play for non-conference road contests at UMass Lowell and Yale before heading to Pittsburgh on Oct. 25 for a matchup against a Panthers squad that was the No. 2-seed in last season's NCAA Tournament on their way to a semifinals run.
Following the Atlantic 10 opener at home, the Minutemen hit the road for league contests at Saint Joseph's on Sept. 25 and Dayton on Oct. 2 before returning home to take on George Washington. UMass also hosts Rhode Island on Oct. 20 and VCU on Oct. 30 in the final two home games of the regular season.
The Minutemen finished last season with a 7-2-3 overall record on their way to earning one of 14 at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament.
