UMass Women’s Track & Field Tops Over BC, BU and Quinnipiac

Harris wins two individual events and runs on first-place relay to lead the Minutewomen.

AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts women's track & field defended its home turf for a third straight week as the squad claimed first in a quad meet against Boston College, Boston University and Quinnipiac on Friday at the UMass Track & Field Complex. The Minutewomen posted a team score od 247.5 points, followed by BC (190), BU (119.5) and Quinnipiac (95).
 
Senior Jada Harris was victorious in 100 meter hurdles at 14.15 seconds, while freshman Lillian Kirry claimed the No. 2 spot in 14.78 seconds. In the 4x100 meter relay, Abby Collins, Caroline Schissel, Harris and Danielle Reicherts combined for a first-place time of 47.46 seconds. Harris won long jump as well, with a mark of 18 feet, 7.25 inches and Reicherts was second (18'1.5").

Freshman Leah Doerries won high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet, 5.25 inches. Junior Danielle Notarfrancesco earned the top spot in shot put with a toss of 46 feet, 8.75 inches and senior Lauren LaDere landed third at 42 feet, 0.5 inches.  Freshman Cheyenne Figueroa threw 171 feet, 10 inches to win hammer, while Notarfrancesco followed in second (167'5") and freshman Voski Armenakyan was third (166'8"). The final event winner of the day for the Minutewomen, freshman Anna Cozzolino posted the top mark in javelin at 155 feet, 4 inches.
 
Reicherts ran to second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.63 seconds. Schissel placed third in 200 meter dash, clocking in at 26.92 seconds and in the 400, freshman Tessa Bostwick took third (59.61).
 
Junior Colette O'Leary raced to third in the 800 meter run, crossing the finish in 2 minutes, 14.83 seconds. Freshman Grace Phair was the runner-up in the 5K, followed directly by freshmen Lily Robinson (17:37.20) and Sarah Conant (17:44.66).
 
Sophomore Sophia Casciano cleared 10 feet, 3.25 inches in pole vault to take second. Sophomore Emily McDonald was third in triple jump with a leap of 37'6".  In discus, freshman Gabriella Pagnini had a toss of 123' 5" to earn second.
 
UMass' 4x400 relay squad of Alexandra Gonet, Sarah Witt, Bostwick and Kirry combined for a third-place time of 4 minutes, 2.61 seconds.
 
The Minutewomen will be back in action April 13-14 when the squad will host a Multi Meet at the UMass Track & Field Complex.
