Men’s Swimming And Diving Set To Open Season Saturday At BU

The first meet of the season for the Minutemen is set for noon.
AMHERST, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's swimming and diving team is set to open up its 2021 season this weekend on the road at Boston University Saturday.
The Return
The Minutemen return to the pool on Saturday for competition for the first time in 392 days after last being in action for the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2020. UMass opens up the 2021 campaign against the Terriers at noon.
New Faces On Deck
Sean Clark took over as the UMass Men's Swimming and Diving Head Coach during the summer of 2020 following the retirement of longtime head coach Russ Yarworth. Maiya Otsuka joined the men's staff as an assistant and continues to hold the same role with the women's team that she has since Aug. 2015. Kirk Scimone also joined the staff in the offseason as the new diving coach following four years of coaching AAU diving in Florida.
Last Time Vs. BU
UMass picked up a 196-95 win over BU in their last meeting on Nov. 2, 2019 in Amherst. The Minutemen set a new 200 Medley Relay pool record with a relay team that included returner Will Munstermann while fellow returnee Jamie MacDonald claimed the top spot in both the 200 Fly and 200 IM.
