Peric’s 90th-Minute Game-Winner Sends UMass Past La Salle, 1-0

Hannah Peric’s first career goal came in the 90th-minute to send UMass to the road A-10 win.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Freshman Hannah Peric scored her first career goal in the 90th-minute to guide the University of Massachusetts women's soccer team to a 1-0 road win on Sunday afternoon at La Salle. The freshman put home a right-footed shot into the right corner of goal off a scramble in front of net after a late UMass free kick.
The Minutewomen needed a penalty stop from Alyssa Chase in the 30th-minute of action after La Salle was awarded a penalty kick. Chase came up with the save, diving to her right to secure the save on her way to finishing with five. The UMass keeper faced 19 Explorer shots on the day with five on target while the Minutewomen put all three of their shot attempts on frame. Serena Ahmed and Lauren Bonavita each put a shot on target for the Minutewomen on the afternoon.
La Salle nearly took the lead in the 85th-minute as Amirah Louketis sent a shot off the post on a cross that was played to the far post from the right side of the field.
UMass continues Atlantic 10 play a week from today when they head to the Bronx to face-off against Fordham at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 21.
