Mayo Tabbed Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week

Freshman guard averaged 18.5 points in two games, including a career-high 20 vs. VCU
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Massachusetts freshman guard Ber'Nyah Mayo has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Mayo posted a team-leading 18.5 points per game during a split weekend for Massachusetts, turning in a 56.5% clip from the floor and 75% showing from downtown. She put down a career-best 20 points in a heartbreaking loss to VCU on Feb. 26. It was the first 20-point performance by a UMass freshman since 2018-19. Mayo also added 17 points in the Feb. 28 win over Richmond, along with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
The Minutewomen have been seeded No. 7 in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship presented by Air Force Reserve, and begin tournament action vs. No. 10 Saint Joseph's on Thursday, March 11. The entirety of the 2021 championship will be played at the Siegel Center on the campus of VCU. Click here for additional information.
