Richardson’s Record Highlights Season Opening Alden Invitational For Women’s Track & Field

The sophomore ran the 60 meter dash in 7.64 seconds to set a new program all-time best.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Massachusetts women's track and field saw the program's 60 meter dash record fall and a two top-five all-time mark set in 60 meter hurdles at the season-opening Alden Invitational on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Faith Richardson ran 7.76 seconds in the 60 meter trials, which initially landed her in the top-five all time in program history, then she broke the school record with a 7.64 in the final to take second at the meet. Grace Poku finished in the top-eight as well, running 7.80 to fourth.
 
Poku also landed a top-eight finish in 300m dash (seventh, 42.68) and Sadai Headley-Mawasi was the runner up in the 300m, 41.91.
 
Graduate student Sarah Yocum won 60 meter hurdles in her UMass debut, clocking in at 8.83 seconds, the fourth fastest time in program history. Lillian Kirry followed in third (8.94) and Kira Kopec was fourth (9.08). Jayden Young rounded out the top-eight individual finishers for the Minutewomen on the track, taking eighth in 1,000m with a time of 3 minutes, 10.61 seconds.
 
UMass' 4x400 meter relay of Yocum, Kirry, Headley-Mawasi and Daniella Pierre was victorious with a time of 4 minutes, 2.76 seconds.
 
Danielle Notarfrancesco won shot put with a toss of 46 feet 9 inches and was third in weight throw with a mark of 52 feet, 2.75 inches. Kopec posted a fifth-place throw in shot put, 41 feet, 8 inches.
 
Emily McDonald took home third in triple jump (38'00") and fourth in long jump (17'8.75"), while Tiarra Deveaux (34'9") and Jordan Lafave (17'1.25") placed eighth in triple jump and long jump, respectively.
 
Sophia Casciano cleared 11 feet, 1.75 inches to earn fourth in pole fault. In high jump, Lea Doerries placed sixth and Courtney Rowland and Madelyn Krohto were eighth. All three Minutewomen posted a height of 5 feet, 1.75 inches.
 
UMass will be back in action with the URI Multi Meet in Kingston, Rhode Island on Friday, December 10.
