Petro led the NCAA in draw controls per game in 2020

AMHERST, Mass. – Massachusetts women's lacrosse junior draw specialist Caitlyn Petro has been named a Second Team All-American, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Petro led the nation in draw controls per game in 2020 with 11.2 wins per game, while her 56 draws in just five games played ranked in a tie for seventh in the NCAA.

The Manchester, N.H. native recorded double-digit draws on three occasions this season, including a career-high 17 in a victory on the road at Connecticut on March 7.

Petro helped Massachusetts to a 4-1 record in a shortened 2020 campaign, ranking fourth in the nation in draw controls per game (18.6) and finishing 20th in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll. In the opening game of the season, UMass knocked off No. 5 Boston College at Garber Field in the program's first-ever victory over a top-five team, and the first victory against a ranked opponent since beating No. 10 Colorado in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
