About Play4Kay
The Play4Kay initiative was established in 2007 in conjunction with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, with a core mission of providing research and cures focused on women's cancers. Both are named after legendary North Carolina State head coach Kay Yow, who passed away in 2009 after a 22-year battle with breast cancer. The Minutewomen will wear special pink uniforms to honor the legacy of Coach Yow and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.

Be one of the first fans through the doors on Saturday to receive a #Flagship Play4Kay pink t-shirt, then head to the marketing table upon entry to pick up some other pink items including a #Flagship pink rally towel, pink UMass Basketball bracelet and pink pom poms.

Need to Knows

• University of Massachusetts women's basketball hits the home stretch of the regular season on Sat., Feb. 22, returning to the Mullins Center to host Davidson in a crucial Atlantic 10 matchup. Opening tip is at noon and the game will be televised on NESNplus with Jim Cain (play-by-play) and Dan Lovallo (color) on the microphone. Fans outside the NESNplus footprint can watch the game on ESPN+.

• A win on Saturday would mark the second straight vs. Davidson and also vault Massachusetts past its season total (16) from a year ago. The last time that the Minutewomen claimed 17 victories in a season was in 2006-07. It would also put UMass at 10 home wins on the year, which has not happened since the 2007-08 squad took 11 wins in the Mullins Center confines.

• The Minutewomen are looking to snap out of a four-game losing streak, most recently dropping a 71-56 result at Saint Louis on Sun., Feb. 16. Senior Hailey Leidel and sophomore Destiney Philoxy each poured in 18 points for Massachusetts in the loss, while junior Sam Breen was just short of a double-double with 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds. But UMass was unable to answer a 14-2 Saint Louis run late in the second quarter as the Billikens led for the remainder of the day.

• Breen entered the starting lineup on Jan. 29 vs. Richmond in a nationally-televised win and continues to make a splash. She was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Mon., Feb. 3. She contributed at least 20 points in each of her first five starts, becoming the first Minutewoman since at least 1997-98 to accomplish such a feat.

• The tandem of Breen and Leidel combined for 51 points at Davidson on Sun., Feb. 2. Of that figure, 31 came in a second half rally effort that saw Massachusetts trail by as many as 13 in the third quarter. In the Richmond game on Jan. 29, Leidel contributed 11 points, eclipsing 1,700 in her career and becoming the first player in program history to log 1,700 points, 600 rebounds and 200 assists.

• Leidel moved up to No. 3 on the Massachusetts all-time career scoring list in the game at George Washington on Jan. 26. The Brownstown, Mich. native (1,769) needs 22 points to tie former Minutewoman Octavia Thomas (1992-96; 1,791 points) for No. 2 on the list. She has made at least one three-point field goal in 30 of her last 31 games dating back to Feb. 24, 2019.

• With 68 blocks on the season, Maeve Donnelly has set the freshman program record and tied the program's single-season best, last matched in 2017-18 by Maggie Mulligan. Donnelly's 68 stops lead the Atlantic 10, are fifth in the country among freshmen, and either tie or exceed four entire team totals in the A-10.

• Massachusetts closes out the regular season with a road trip to Saint Joseph's (Feb. 26) and Senior Day at home vs. Rhode Island (Feb. 29).
