Minutemen Drop Saturday Tilt To River Hawks, 1-0

Graham Brenner nearly tied things up for UMass with a header off the crossbar in the 85th-minute.
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's soccer team dropped its home contest to UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon at Rudd Field, falling behind 1-0 on a goal in the 65th-minute on a goal by the River Hawks' Mario Mora Perez. The Minutemen (4-3-0 Overall) fired six shots compared to UMass Lowell's (4-2-1 Overall) seven attempts, including a header that hit the crossbar in the 85th-minute.
Graham Brenner nearly gave UMass the equalizer with just over five minutes remaining in regulation, putting his head on a ball off a Chandler O'Dwyer corner kick that skimmed the crossbar and went out for a goal kick. Brenner was one of six Minutemen to attempt a shot on the afternoon.
UMass Lowell's game-winning goal came in the 65th-minute off the foot of Mora Perez as Renato Kauzlaric sent in a shot towards UMass goalkeeper Marvyn Dorchin, who made a diving save to his left before the ball bounced to the right post where it was put in for the goal. Dorchin finished the game with a game-high three saves for the Minutemen.
The Minutemen head to Boston College on Tuesday for the final non-conference road game of the season at 4 p.m. before beginning Atlantic 10 play on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Dayton.
