Junior goalie makes big plays as women's lacrosse stays perfect in A-10 play.

AMHERST, Mass. - After backstopping the UMass women's lacrosse team to a pair of league wins last weekend, goalie Lauren Hiller was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

The junior helped UMass to a 24-5 win last Friday over George Mason before coming up big in a rain-soaked 11-8 win over previously unbeaten Saint Joseph's on Sunday.

For the weekend, Hiller posted a 6.73 goals-against-average while making a total of 15 saves with a 55.6% save percentage. She also added five groundballs and two caused turnovers. She is 3-0 on the year after returning from an injury that sidelined her for the non-conference portion of the schedule.

In the win over Mason, Hiller made five saves in 47 minutes of work facing just 13 shots. On Sunday, she posted 10 saves, four groundballs and two caused turnovers to pick up the win over Saint Joseph's. Hiller was particularly key in the second half where she made four saves in the final 18 minutes of play to hold the Hawks scoreless sealing the win for the Minutewomen.

UMass (9-3, 4-0 A-10) will hit the road this weekend with trips to Duquesne on Friday and St. Bonaventure on Sunday.
