Cerasi Named A-10 Offensive Player Of The Week

Junior attack earns weekly honor after netting pair of game-winning goals last weekend.
AMHERST, Mass. - After leading the UMass women's lacrosse teams to wins at La Salle and over Richmond at home, junior attack Kaitlyn Cerasi was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.
The native of Wantagh, N.Y., posted a team-high eight points with five goals, which included both game-winning goals, and three assists. She also had a groundball and a caused turnover in the two games.
At La Salle, she scored just one goal, but it came with just three minutes left in regulation and stood as the game-winner.
In the win over Richmond, a rematch of last year's A-10 Championship title game, the junior scored the game-winning goal in overtime to highlight her four goals and three assists on the afternoon. In the second half alone against the Spiders, she was clutch with a goal and all three assists with each either tying the game or putting UMass in the lead during a stanza which saw six ties and  five lead changes.
The win over Richmond kept UMass unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play at 8-0 while improving overall to 13-3 on the season. It also captured the A-10 regular-season title for the Minutewomen who will close out the regular-season next Saturday, April 20 against George Washington at Garber Field.
